Country artist Jessica Harp declared days ago in her blog that a marriage was on the horizon, and she is now a married woman. Jessica, formerly one-half of duo The Wreckers, married violinist and band mate Jason Mowery. The ceremony took place today in Downtown Franklin, Tenn. at CJ’s Off The Square, a local art gallery.

“Growing up, you and your girlfriends talk about getting married, who you will marry, the kind of wedding you want — today exceeded all of my expectations,” said Harp. “Jason and I feel incredibly lucky to have such amazing family and friends to share this wonderful moment with.”

The couple chose to keep the nuptials intimate by inviting their family and closest friends. A multitude of candles and special lighting illuminated the ceremony, while flowers were kept simple. Chocolate and aqua were the bride’s colors of choice for the occasion. As a special touch, the couple had guests supply a list of their favorite songs to be played at the reception, also held at CJ’s. No word yet on whether any little Harpist are planned.

In 2006, The Wreckers were the first duo to reach #1 with their debut single, “Leave the Pieces,” since Brooks & Dunn in 1991 and the first female duo to reach #1 with their debut single in over 53 years. In December 2007, they released the live CD/DVD Way Back Home: Live From New York, which was recorded during a sold-out show at the Bowery Ballroom in New York City on July 13, 2007. In late 2007, both Harp and Branch announced they would release solo albums on Warner Bros. Records in the coming months.

There are really only two wreckers so they can only wreck a few things at a time. The Wreckers (shortened from the Homewreckers or Cass County Homewreckers) are a country duo of Michelle Branch and Jessica Harp; currently they’ve put this version of themselves on hold while both gals pursue solo careers.

The two friends formed the group in 2004 and gained fame from the performance of their song “The Good Kind” on the show One Tree Hill and a tour of the groups featured on the show. This would lead into the release of their first album ‘Stand Still, Look Pretty’ - which would produce the number one hit “Leave the Pieces” and would eventually secure them a Grammy nomination.

The live album features all songs from ‘Stand Still, Look Pretty.’ As with other live albums this has audience noise and some exchanges with the crowd, so if you want unadulterated versions of the songs then you may want to pick up their debut album.

Also, in a trend that I really like, they include a 64 minute DVD of the live performance for those of us that didn’t get to make it to New York.

The gals have good voices and energy and although the group is paused while they pursue other avenues in solo careers it’s nice to see and hear them together this time.

One day after celebrating her 26th birthday, singer Jessica Harp received a gift to last a lifetime as she was united in marriage with violinist Jason Mowery on February 4, 2008. The bride, who performed musical masterpieces alongside her future husband while in the chart-topping country duo The Wreckers with singer Michelle Branch, chose to say “I do” to her love amid a palette of aqua and chocolate hues during a candlelit ceremony held at CJ’s Off The Square, an art gallery/special events venue in Franklin, Tennessee, Great American Country reports. A historic edifice constructed in the 1880’s, a bevy of brides and grooms have exchanged vows among works by contemporary artists, inside a tented pavilion on the grounds, or surrounded by a symphony of color in the garden area.
